Cyclic Plastic Dissipation Calcualtion in UMAT

During Fatigue temperaure of materials increases due to plastic deformation.  I am trying to calcualte plastic dissipation in UMAT and use it as heat source in HETVAl to get temperature rise.  I do not know how to add plastic dissipation calculation in UMAt.  I am wondering if some body  give me an example which is done close to what I want to do.

suggestion on a project.............

hii every one ... i am an  undergraduate student in mechanical enggineering . can any 1 suggest me a good project which includes  1.both computer oriented and also lab oriented project.

2.  also a  project in fatigue analysis.

Different Stress Values between brick, beam and hand calculation?

Hello Everyone,

I have run a simple beam simulation of a cantilever pipe. I calcualted it with 8-Node brick elements, beam elements and hand calculation. At the up and low edge of the beam connection to the wall, I got maximum stress values as expected. While the beam and hand calculation results are similar  (40 MPa), brick element calculation is higher. (50Mpa). Interestingly the finer the mesh of brick elements the higher the stress values. I couldnt figure out the reason of it. Can any one say a comment?

 Thanks in advance

Iam beginner in ansys, so i have problem in enter the steps of cyclic load to a plate as solved in ansys to get the deformation with time curve.

can any help me??

nastran .op2 reader

Hi everyone,

I am working on a personal Fatigue Analysis code that read nodes and stresses from FE processors. I would like to read the NASTRAN .op2 output  file. Does anyone know about the structure of this kind of file?

Thanks,

Ademar.

Hello,

I am working on a simple concrete model. The model fails
to converge for relatively smaller loads. I am not very proficient with
abaqus. If someone can tell me what to tweak to get it running, I'll be
grateful.

Please take a look at the inp file attached.

FEA of Crack Propagation

Hi all,I'm a student of of Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai.I'm trying to do stress intensity based crack propagation in metals. I’m using Abaqus/CAE. I’m following the abaqus 6.5 documentation, I have completed upto Contour integral evaluation,” (Section 7.10.2). but I’m unable to proceed further, since “Crack propagation analysis”, (Section 7.10.3) refers only “Input file usage” (Not Abaqus/CAE Usage)I hope someone can help me

Partial Differential Equations for Scientists and Engineers

Hello,

I am an instructor who teaches the partial differential equatioin for mechanical engineering students at Myong Ji University in South Korea using the book, "partial differential equations for scientists and engineers" written by Prof. Stanley J. Farlow.

Luckly our department professor handed me over a copy of solution manual but which was not completed. Thus I wonder if anyone has a complete solution manual for this book. It will be grateful if I may be able to obtain a complete solution manual.

Thank you very much,

Finite Deformation: Special Cases

The notes on finite deformation have been divided into two parts: special cases and general theory (node/538). In class I start with special cases, and then sketch the general theory. But the two parts can be read in any order.

Estimate of Burst Strength of Dents in Pipe

Hi all,

I am a master student doing an analysis to estimate the burst strength of dented pipes, I have been able to model the indenter and pipe. I did a non-linear analysis to create the dent but my problem is how to remove the indenter and apply pressure to come about the burst. please how do I achieve this kind of analysis. I would be very grateful to contributors and examples that would help me solve the problem. The model is being done using ANSYS 11.0

Notes on Implicit Update for Bergstrom-Boyce Network B

This post is in response to the imechanica request

node/5034

(a separate post, as I have to attach notes - it would be really nice to be able to attach documents to imechanica comments)

Attached are hand-written notes I have used to implement the Network B for the Bergstrom-Boyce model. They were written for my use only, so if it seems stream-of-consciousness at times, don't blame me. The details should all be there, though.

Springback analysis using ANSYS

I am carrying out spring back analysis using LS-dyna and hyperform. The procedure as follows: forming is carried  using LS-dyna and then the spring back  is included in to the result file using hyperform and .k files are created using hyperform itself. While running the analysis, after certain number of iterations, the analysis aborts with message equilibrium can’t be achieved.  I have included the both the input files (with and without spring back).

please help!! two solid mechanics problem relating stress, gears etc.

hi

i am having problems solving two solid mechanics problems... can anyone please help??? the problems are:

Question 4:

A 2380 Nm torque is applied to gear D due to input torque from the motor at A, as shown in figure 4. Shafts 1 and 2 are both solid steel, 44 mm in diameter and 600 mm long. Gear B has a diameter of 250 mm and gear C has a diameter of 350 mm. The shear modulus G for steel is 80GN/m^2

Hard stage materials in Ansys

Hello,

I'm trying to simulate and compare principal stresses in model of bolt and nut, for different material data. I would like to get the soft/hard stage comparison. The problem is that I just do not know how to define hard stage material, it is not in standard material library in ansys (workbench or classic).

If anyone could help me giving some examples of hard stage materials data I would be greatfull.
