CFRP/Composite Adhesive lap joint.

I want to simulate experimental result of a CFRP [45/0/-45/90]s single lap joint in ABAQUS.

I have given geometry, properties & graphical result in the uploaded images.

Yellow color plate in the joint geometry is the E-Glass end tabs to grab both the ends

of the joint in the hydraulic grips. The loading(shear) is carried out at 0.5mm/min.

Thichness of each ply is 0.12mm; so thickness(T) of one CFRP plate is 0.12*8 = 0.96mm.

Thickness of adhesive layer is 0.15mm.

Overlap length(L) is 10mm.

Help with a LS DYNA compression test model

I amtrying to model a simple compression test om a foam cube with LS DYNA. I have tried a lot of different approaches but there is always something wrong in the model :(. I have managed to get on model up and running, but i am having problems with excessive penetrations! Do anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I have includef the .k file as a text file to this post.

How to extract angle of twist and shear stress due to torque in Workbench

I set up this model of a shaft with to opposing torque simulating a shaft and pulley system. 

The supports and loads are shown here: Ex-3-9-LoadsAndSupports.png

Note that the origin (top left) has the rotation X constrained to eliminate rigid body motion and to set a reference of zero twist at that point.

VUMAT Algorithm for writing Cockcroft Lathom model

Can someone advise me the algorithm for writing VUMAT for C-L model?  I have doubts mainly in following steps.

1. Will Elastic and plastic predictor step be similar as isotropic hardening model given in VUMAT example pdf?

2. How to couple damage prediction steps?

ANSYS terminology... confusing

Why ANSYS calls the well known "element coordinate system" with their own term, "solution" coordinate system? 

Why ANSYS calls  the well know method of applying a "bias" for mesh refinement with their own term, "inflation"? -- I looked it up. INFLATION: to cause to expand or distend with air or gas.

Why ANSYS calls  the well know method of "partitioning" a solid model with their own term, "slice"? OK, may be "slice" is descriptive, but "inflation"? and "solution cs"?

Je ne sais pas du tout si je pose ma question au bon forum, alors si ce n'est pas le cas, j'en suis désolée.

Mon conjoint et moi comptons acheter un bien immobilier : une villa neuf sur plan (label BBC). Et j'aurais besoin de vos expériance et de votre concernant les différentes étapes d'achat.

Infos qui vous serons peut être utile pour me répondre : nous nous somme marier depuis quelque semaine. Et nous ne sommes pas non plus à la même caisse de crédit . Il est en CDI depuis 3ans, et moi je suis AE.

Voilà ce que je sais :
1) Prendre un premier rdv avec caisse de crédit . d'avoir une idée de notre budget. -> rdv passé : on a une capacité d'emprunt assez limitée (lui seul peut prétendre à un prêt)

2) Recherche d'appartement -> on a trouvé un résidence neuve label BBC qui nous intéresse énormément (mais qui est au dessus de nos moyens whistle: )

3) Prise de rdv avec l'agence immobilière -> il aura lieu cette semaine Voilà pour le moment où nous en sommes.

Supposons que dans résidence neuve se trouve la maison que nous aimerions effectivement acquerir.
Quelles sont les prochaines étapes?

Démarcher les mon établissement de crédit pour avoir le meilleur prêt à un meilleur taux? Quand devons nous faire la demande pour accéder au PTZ? Avant ou après avoir trouvé une la banque ?
Notre apport personnel provient du PEL de mon conjoint, quels avantages cela nous apporte exactement (le PEL)?

Savez vous si en général les prix indiqués [url= appartement neuf à acheter[/url] sont négociables auprès du promoteur?

J'ai très certainement encore des millions de questions, mais je vais m'arrêter là. Pour le moment cela me semble déjà assez décousu et je n'aimerais pas vous décourager tout de suite lol:

How can I avoid stress concentration at fixed support

I have a cantilever beam, 8 in long, rectangular cross section W=0.75 in, H=1.5 in, E=29 msi, Poisson's=0.3, under uniform line load qy = -50 lbf/in (y direction) entire length, bending around strong axis (zz). Beam theory solution M*c/I gives max. stress = 5687 psi.

I model with ANSYS Workbench, uniform mesh Ex-3-6-3D-Normal-Stress.PNG attached.

If I refine the mesh I only get more and more stress concentration. Expected but how to avoid? I just want to get the same result as M*c/I to show how FEA can predict the same as beam theory.

Are shear-moment diagrams wrong in ANSYS Workbench 16.1 ?

I think I found an ERROR in ANSYS Workbench 16.1 and I hope someone can either CONFIRM or show me what I did wrong. 

This is very important because I am teaching this material, but I do not have support from ANSYS, so I am asking for your help.

Masters of Thermodynamics

One Internet, multiple worlds.  People have gone mobile, but iMechanica has not.  Although iMechanica is accessible from mobile phones, but it was not designed as such.  On the other hand, mobile social networks are good mostly for short forms.  A practical solution seems to be posting on iMechanica and linking the entries to social networks, such as twitter, wechat, and Facebook.  For example, The New Yorker has a strong presence on Facebook, as my sons and their friends would say.

A short course on "stability analysis and bifurcation theory" by Ryan Elliott

With a growing interest in soft materials, stability and bifurcation analysis is re-emerging to be a critical topic for mechanicians. There are some excellent books out there but most tend to focus on finite dimensional systems rather than (continuous) infinite dimensional systems which are of most interest to mechanicians. In general, much of the modern developments on this topic are scattered across journal papers and perhaps there are not too many pedagogical resources for beginners.

How to find RHT Concrete Parameters

I want to perform simulation usinng Ansys Autodyn or Abaqus. Acutally I am new to FEM softwares. For the simulation I want to use RHT concrete model, however, the concrete is has f'c of about 3000psi or 20Mpa or less. Ansys Autodyn has RHT models for 35Mpa and 140MPa concrete and Abaqus has none. Kindly if you can help me find out the parameters for 20Mpa concrete. If any tests are needed to find the parameters, kindly provide me a list and refer me any source.
