Have someone met a strange behavior of Load-Displacement curve in a simple 2D indentation problem

I am modelling a very simple 2D contact problem between a rigid wedge indenter and a deformable squared-shape specimen (general steel material) in frictionless contact case. I used an implicit function f to describe the rigid indenter.

I implemented Lagrange multiplier method for this contact problem and the contact condition is: Inside the contact zone of the deformable specimen, the node set is active if f(node)<=0 and the Lagrange multiplier lambda<=0.

Postdoc position in Solid Mechanics at Lund University, Sweden

The postdoc position is mainly focused on

Post-doctorate Positions in Offshore Engineering at National University of Singapore

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting 2 post-doctorate research fellows to pursue research on ice-structure interaction in the Keppel-NUS Corporate Laboratory. As part of the S$75 million collaboration between Keppel Corporation and NUS, the team comprising of Prof. Andrew Palmer, Dr. Bai Wei, and Dr. Pang Sze Dai, seeks to develop solutions for offshore rigs to meet the challenges of harsh arctic environments in oil and gas exploration and production.

Elliptic crack instead of line crack in Phase-field method

What should be the crack initial condition in phase field fracture simulation?

By using phi=0 (broken phase) for one line segment of nodes  crack can
be specified. but with the loading applied we expect some crack opening
displacement. now as there is only one node specifying both upper and
lower crack faces displacements +u and -u at that node will be zero.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to simulate a drop test in abaqus?

I am working on a research to simulate a drop test of a package box with ceramic saucer inside. I am not proficient in abaqus so I am looking for some suggestions.

Till now, I created a hollow box with 2 mm thickness to represent it as a cardboard box and a disc for a saucer. I have material properties for cardboard and saucer. Then I assembled the model in abaqus such that saucer is touching box at the bottom; this was initial condition.

Nonlinear free and forced vibration analysis of a single-walled carbon nanotube using shell model

In this Paper, the nonlinear free and force vibration of a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) with simply supported ends is

investigated based on von Karman’s geometric nonlinearity. The SWCNT described as an individual shell and the Donnell’s

equations of cylindrical shells are used to obtain the governing equations. The Galerkin's procedure is used to discretized partial
