A research group at Iowa State University (https://www.aere.iastate.edu/lmxiong/) is looking for research assistants in the field of solid mechanics, computational mechanics, computational materials science and engineering. Research topics will fall into a broad area of modeling and simulation of mechanical and transport behaviors, such as plasticity, fracture, phase transformation, thermal transport, or mass transport, in a variety of engineering materials.

PhD position in Mechanics and Dynamics at Wichita State University

A funded PhD position is open for summer or fall 2017 in the Mechanics and Dynamics Laboratory in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University. The research program will focus on the design and development of mechanical metamaterials, their application towards aerospace structures, and will involve a combination of analytical, numerical, and experimental methods. The candidate must have a MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and a strong background in structural mechanics and dynamics.

Multiple PhD positions in microstructure-mechanics relationships for structural materials at high temperatures

Multiple PhD positions are available for the fall 2012/winter 2013 semesters in microstructure-mechanics relationships for structural materials at high temperatures in the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (http://www.cavs.msstate.edu) at Mississippi State University.  The project is funded through Air Force Office for Scientific Research (AFOSR) and will involve multiscale materials characterization, in situ SEM experiments, and high temperature mechanical testing for turbine blade structural materials (nickel-based superalloys).

   My name is Mario Pinto. I have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (2006) and a masters degree in Computational Science (2008). Since August 2008, I have been working at Computational Research Labs, Pune, India in the Computational Materials Group. My work mostly involves the use of MD, and I use LAMMPS for all simulations.
