Aaron Goh's primary interest is in the structure-property-function-sensory relationships of materials. He is particularly keen on the characterisation of the mechanical properties of materials and how the properties relate to human perception.
Aaron was educated at Imperial College London; firstly receiving a BEng in Mechanical Engineering (1998) and then a PhD (2002) for research under the guidance of Professor Gordon Williams and Dr Maria Charalambides. In 2002, he was awarded a Research Fellowship from the Royal Commission of the 1851 Exhibition to pursue his postdoctoral research. He has also spent a short time at the University of Manitoba where he was a Visiting Scientist for 3 months (2004).
In 2005, he joined Unilever as a Materials Scientist. His research involved the design of microstructures for a wide range of food systems including biopolymers and pressed tablets. In August 2008, he left Unilever to join Curtin University Sarawak.
In recognition of his research contribution to the rheology and texture as related to cereal based products, Aaron has been chosen as the recipient of the Rheology Division Young Scientist Award by the American Association of Cereal Chemists International in 2008.
