Looking for Postdoc Position

 

I am
looking for postdoctoral position in the field of mechanical and material
engineering. I have my PhD from Louisiana State University, and currently
working with Dr. Khonsari at  Louisiana State University.

During
my Phd I was working on the material characterization and fatigue of metals and
composite materials using thermodynamic approach.

Pin joint modeling using Continuum Plane Stress

Dear All,

I will appreciate if you answer my question.

I modeled a 2D pin joint in ABAQUS using USDFLD to apply failure criteria.

 

I used CPS4 element for (0/90)s. As you know, the elements of both two layers completely overlap.

Abaqus gives a cotour of all layers together (bothe 0 and 90 deg.). How I can only, for example, see the contour of 90 deg. ply or only 0 deg. ply? 

In the output plots, how can i see stress or any field variable output for each layer?

How to write an input ABAQUS file containing UMAT and USDFLD together

Hi everyone,

I am trying to model composite failure in abaqus. I used USDFLD to check different failure mode (fiber tension/compression, matrix tension/compression,..) based on available theory of failure. After checking the failure, if any element fails, the material property like stiffness will suddenly reduces to near zero. At this time i need to chnage material stiffness in UMAT and getting new stress distribution.

My problem is in the input file (inp file) how can I use both command for USDFLD and UMAT?

Looking for Postdoctoral Position

I am currently a doctoral candidate at Louisiana State University, and expect to complete my PhD degree requirements by Fall 2010. My doctoral dissertation is conducted under the direction of Prof. M. M. Khonsari, and looks at the use of a relatively new methodology for the fatigue of structural components. In my research, I developed an effective and new criterion for fatigue life monitoring of the components subjected to cyclic loading based on thermodynamic entropy concept.

Cyclic Plastic Dissipation Calcualtion in UMAT

During Fatigue temperaure of materials increases due to plastic deformation.  I am trying to calcualte plastic dissipation in UMAT and use it as heat source in HETVAl to get temperature rise.  I do not know how to add plastic dissipation calculation in UMAt.  I am wondering if some body  give me an example which is done close to what I want to do.
