In-situ characterization on the fracture behavior of three dimensional polymer nanocomposites reinforced by CNT sponge

This paper reported the fracture behavior of polymer-based nanocomposites reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs). In order to solve the problem associated with the dispersion and re-agglomeration of CNTs, three dimensional CNT sponge was prepared and incorporated into the epoxy through the monomer infusion process. The fracture toughness and critical energy release rate of the nanocomposites were enhanced by more than 100% and 250%, respectively.

Positions for PhD students

Two positions for PhD students are available in Prof. Peng-Cheng Ma’s group in The Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The institute is one of the research unites affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and it locates in Urumqi, China, a city with distinctively historic and cultural atmosphere. Major research activities in the group are: i) Carbon-based materials for structural and functional applications; 2) Polymer-based nanocomposites for engineering and environmental applications.
