Our Mechanics of Materials Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands has two openings for talented PhD students in the field of multiscale mechanics of materials. They are part of a European Union funded project on multiscale methods for advanced materials. One opening is onthe development of a fundamentally new multiscale approach towards material modelling and the other aims to integrate this approach with experimental methods.

Optical Methods Technical Division

The Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for faculty positions at all levels in Solid Mechanics, broadly defined, with particular emphasis on research that is experimental in nature.  MechSE at Illinois has a strong tradition in solid mechanics, and offers a BS degree in Engineering Mechanics and MS/PhD programs in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, as well as BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Materials has immediate openings
for two post-doctoral positions, dealing with (i) laboratory experiments on hydraulic
fracture and (ii) ductile failure in metals. The primary focus in both
investigations is on performing laboratory experiments that are then followed

The position is located in Melbourne, Australia and the successful candidate will play a leading role in a world class hydraulic fracturing laboratory facility and in a hydraulic fracturing research team that integrates modelling with experimentation at laboratory and field scales.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor who will strengthen existing departmental efforts in Structures and/or Mechanics of Materials and complement efforts in Systems. 

Our Mechanics of Materials Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, in association with Materials innovation institute M2i, has two openings for talented PhD students in the field of multiscale mechanics of materials. They are part of a project on multiscale hygro-mechanics of paper. The industrial background of the project is in inkjet-printing. One opening is on experimental characterisation and the other on multiscale computational modelling.
For exceptionally suited young doctors we may consider changing the positions into PostDoc positions.

CSIRO Petroleum in Melbourne, Australia, welcomes applications to a Postdoctoral Fellowship
in hydraulic fracture stimulation mechanics. The successful candidate
will have a background in applied mechanics and numerical methods with
an interest in verifying numerical calculations by experiment.  The
research results will be applied to stimulation of hot fractured rock
geothermal reservoirs.
