<p>The successful candidates will contribute to research and undertake teaching and related activities at the core of chemical engineering or mechanical engineering. Applications are welcomed from enthusiastic individuals who are highly motivated with a demonstrable expertise in their chosen field. We are particularly keen to hear from those with core research and teaching interests that contribute to one or more of the following research areas:</p>
<ul><li>Biomechanical and biomedical engineering and life science/engineering interface research activities, including work on bio-processing and bio-separation.</li>
<li>Oil and gas engineering with interests related to upstream production and downstream refining. Research interests would ideally be related to experimental or modelling of multiphase flow, thermal processes for energy and carbon conversions with applications to the gas and oil sector. </li>
<li>Carbon dioxide capture, transport, storage and utilisation with interest in the experimental and theoretical development of novel materials, reactive flow in porous networks, as well as process intensification and control.</li>
</ul><p>We are seeking people with a record that will demonstrate they can become a leading national and international researcher in their chosen field. The candidate is expected to have a first degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering (or closely related discipline), a PhD in one of the areas of interest to us and a track record of publications in internationally recognised journals. It is desirable, but not essential, to have a track record of securing external research funding.</p>
<p>The posts will be an open-ended position within the School and based primarily at our Riccarton Campus. Successful candidates may be required to work at one of our international sites.</p>

<p>Tenure Track Faculty Position in<br />
Structural Engineering and Mechanics</p>
<p>The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in experimental, theoretical, and/or computational research spanning multiple scales in the general area of Structural Engineering and Mechanics. The start date of the appointment may be as early as January 1, 2011. While the appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level, serious consideration will be given to applicants at higher levels.</p>
<p>We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join a vibrant department of more than 40 faculty (10 in Structural Engineering and Mechanics), and 290 graduate students (90 in Structural Engineering and Mechanics). The Department houses experimental facilities capable of testing nano-scale to full-scale structural systems and high performance computing facilities for simulation of complex systems. The University is located in the Research Triangle, which presents opportunities for research collaboration with academic, government and industrial organizations. In addition to the University’s Main Campus, the adjacent Centennial Campus houses state-of-the-art academic and corporate research facilities.</p>
<p>An earned doctorate degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is required. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and sustain a recognized research program within his or her area of expertise and to contribute to the teaching mission of the graduate and undergraduate programs of the department.
