The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at
El Paso is seeking a highly motivated and experienced graduate student
as a paid research assistant (RA) in our new Ph.D. program in Biomedical
Engineering for the Fall of 2013 or sooner if key applicant is found.
Research will be conducted in the newly established musculoskeletal
biomechanics laboratory in our new Biomedical Engineering Building.
A postdoc position is available in Dr. Qi’s group in the
Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Colorado Boulder starting
from April, 2013. The project will involve mechanics and design of polymer
composites. Candidates should have strong background in solid mechanics,
physics and constitutive modeling of polymers, and computational mechanics. Interested
candidates should send his/her CV together with a list of 2-3 references to qih@colorado.edu.
The position concerns contribution to the development of Morfeo, a manufacturing oriented finite element software. For any of the project activities, the candidate is expected to develop the numerical methodology up to industrial maturity. First of all, the candidate will contribute to machining oriented development. Morfeo relies on an innovative approach based on level sets in order to easily handle complex industrial applications. Developments include general modeling of the machining process, remeshing techniques, new boundary conditions, parallel implementation of the algorithms. Targeted applications include e.g. prediction of the distortions generated by the clamping system and relaxation of residual stresses during turning of large-scale components.
Undertake research as a Postdoc within the project MuSIC - Modeling and SImulation of Cancer growth. This project is funded by an ERC Starting Grant.
The applicants are expected to hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Computational Biology, Computational Biophysics, or a related field. The successful candidate will probably have several publications in international scientific journals. It is assumed that the applicants will have a good command of English language.
The Helmholtz-Institute of Materials Research in Geesthacht, Germany, invites applications for a Scientific researcher m/f.
The position is initially limited for one year with the possibility of an additional three-year-extension (starting as soon as possible).
Please apply online. Do not contact me; I do not work in the company.
The Research and Computer Aided Engineering group at Carrollton Technology Center of Halliburton is looking for an expert FEA analyst at principal engineer level. This position requires

The research objective is to establish an ultrastructurally-based computational finite element model of the ocular lens subjected to dynamic loading to attempt to better understand the mechanisms of traumatic cataract formation and how it may be treated clinically.
CSIRO division of Earth Science and Resource Engineering is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in hydraulic fracturing/geomechanics. The position is located in Melbourne, Australia and the successful candidate will play a leading role in a world class hydraulic fracturing laboratory facility and in a hydraulic fracturing research team that integrates modelling with experimentation at laboratory and field scales.
The Computational Alloy Design group of IMDEA
Materials Institute (Madrid, Spain) seeks a PhD student in materials/mechanical/metallurgy
engineering or physics) to work in the area of mesoscale modeling. The selected
candidate is expected to carry out the research on phase field modeling of the
microstructure development for TiAl intermetallics during the solidification
and casting processing under the supervision of a project leader. Upon
the completion of the doctoral study (4 years),
The department of Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL campus has several faculty positions open, at all levels. One area of interest is structures and materials, and more specifically composites. See attached document for furhter information and how to apply.
We are currently looking for a top candidate to join the System Level Design group at CMU (www.ece.cmu.edu/~sld/), as a Postdoctoral Associate, starting Spring 2013. Main responsibilities involve work on modeling and control of stochastic micro-robotic swarms targeting biological applications.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University
of Houston (UH) invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the Full
Professor level beginning Fall 2013 or later. Successful candidates are
expected to establish an internationally recognized dynamic research program in
the area of experimental biomechanics and mechanobiology. Special preference
would be given to those pursuing cellular level and/or single molecule studies
of living systems with emphasis on healthcare applications. Highly qualified
The work involves working independently and collaboratively on: Identifying processing parameters that will optimize the properties of the bi-metallic joint, developing a material constitutive model for impact loading conditions, developing an experimentally validated numerical model the can be used to predict the joint performance under impact loading conditions, and developing design and processing guidelines for the bimetallic joints.
