Funded PhD positions are available in the department of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in Prof. Semnani’s research group, with start date of Fall 2024 and Winter 2025. The positions are in the areas of computational mechanics, machine learning, geomechanics, landslides, material characterization and modeling, and composite materials. We are looking for highly motivated and talented individuals with bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

The microMechanics of Deformation Research Group (mMOD) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Rutgers University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to perform research under an internal award from the Rutgers TechAdvance program. The goal of the project is to extend a recently developed technique for constructing finite-element-based physics-informed neural network (FE-PINN) surrogate models to nonlinear problems in mechanics of materials (and beyond).

We have 2 postdoc openings in the field of laser fusion additive manufacturing of metals at Tsinghua University. The candidates are required to have expertise in synchrotron x-ray techs, metal additive manufacturing, electron microscopy (TEM/SEM), grain growth, phase transformation, or micromechanics. A postdoctoral position is available immediately to work on a DARPA funded project as a member of the research groups of Prof. Francisco Lopez Jimenez and Prof. David Marshall, at the University of Colorado Boulder. The focus of the project is the development of a novel experimental protocol to accelerate the time required to characterize new metal alloys. The research will be primarily experimental, with close collaboration with researchers at Teledyne Scientific Company, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Miami.
