We are currently looking for a top candidate to join the System Level Design group at CMU (<a href="http://www.ece.cmu.edu/~sld/">www.ece.cmu.edu/~sld/</a>), as a Postdoctoral Associate, starting Spring 2013. Main responsibilities involve work on modeling and control of stochastic micro-robotic swarms targeting biological applications.
</p>
<p>
The on-going research behind this position aims at developing a new computational framework for characterizing dense networks of bacteria propelled microrobotic swarms targeting diagnostic and drug delivery, as well as computational approaches for cellular communication. Developing this framework involves inter-disciplinary work towards understanding this class of cyber-physical systems which operate under uncertainity conditions, yet are able to perform specified tasks through self-organization and collective behavior.
</p>
<p>
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant area (e.g., robotics, control, computer science/engineering, statistical mechanics, applied math/physics, etc.), excellent analytical and communication skills, ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. Prior experience with C++/Matlab, complex and network modeling are very important too.
</p>
<p>
Interested candidates should send their CV, research statement, and questions to Prof. Radu Marculescu (<a href="mailto:radum@cmu.edu">radum@cmu.edu</a>)
