Time: 10 AM - 12 PM

Location: Laufer Library (RRB 208), Rapp Engineering Building, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA

Presented by: Simpleware Reseller Device Analytics LLC

This technical seminar is aimed at those interested in visualizing, measuring, and meshing of 3D image data to generate 3D Printing, CAD, and Finite Element Models for leading solvers. We will demonstrate the ease of obtaining high fidelity meshes from 3D image data, discuss new features of the latest version, and will show the workflow of processing and meshing image data for a variety of applications.

Fee:

$0 with registration

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with imaging data is recommended

Attend this event to learn how to:

Visualize and process data from a wide range of imaging modalities (e.g. CT, MicroCT, MRI...)

Obtain measurements and statistics such as porosity, volume, fracture dimensions...

Import and position CAD files in the image data

Calculate effective material properties of scanned samples

Directly export to all leading FE/CFD solvers, e.g. Comsol, Ansys, Abaqus...

Use Simpleware software for a variety of applications in materials science

Each year the M C Gill Composites Center at the University of Southern California hosts doctoral students and post-graduate researchers from across the world. If you are an international doctoral student who requires foreign research experience as part of your doctoral studies and are interested in working in composites, our center can host you. The typical duration of such a research arrangement spans a few months and can extend up to a year. The student is expected to have their own financial support for the duration of their stay. Our center can also host visiting scholars and researchers (post-graduate) who are looking for international research experience. For further information, please visit our center’s website at http://composites.usc.edu

If you are interested in applying, please send a cover letter along with your resume to the center director, Prof. Steven Nutt at nutt@usc.edu
