Post Doc positions at the University of Florida

There are two post doc positions at the University of Florida in the group of Prof Katerina E. Aifantis. One focuses on experimental aspects, such as materials synthesis and electrochemical cycling of Li-ion batteriles, while the other on dislocation dynamics and atomistic simulations. Those with a stong publication record are encouraged to apply by emailing at kaifanti@mtu.edu. The position starts on August 1.

PhD Student openings at University of Florida

There are two PhD openings for the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida under the supervision of Prof. Katerina E. Aifantis. One position focuses on experimental aspects such as materials synthesis for energy and bio applications, while the other on continuum mechanics. Students who have a Master's Degree and have publications in these fields are encouraged to apply. Please submit your CVs and cover letter to kaifanti@mtu.edu

PhD position at the University of Arizona in the Dept of Civil Engineering

There is a PhD opening in the Dept of Civil Engineering-Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona to work with Professor Katerina E. Aifantis. The research topic is not defined yet, but will be in the area of continuum mechanics at the nanoscale. A bachelor in engineering is required and a master's would be preferred. The start date will be in mid August but the position needs to be filled as soon as possible. Those interested can contact katerinaaifantis@gmail.com

Position within ERC Strarting Grant MINATRAN in Univ of Erlangen

There is a postdoctoral research postition within Dr. K.E. Aifantis's ERC Starting Grant at the Univ of Erlangen. The project is concerned with examining dislocation_interface interactions through gradient plasticty and simulations. A PhD in materials engineering is required and publications in the field must be evident. If a good experimental candidate is found who can perform in situ TEM/nanoindentation experiments he/she will also be considered. The position needs to be filled asap and can be extended for 18 months.

Position within ERC Strarting Grant MINATRAN in Univ of Erlangen

There is a postdoctoral research position within Dr. K.E. Aifantis's ERC Grant MINATRAN at the Univ of Erlangen. It is concerned with the effect of nanoparticles on cell cultures. A PhD in materials science, or cell biology is required as well as knowledge on cell cultures and materials characterization (SEM/TEM). The position needs to be filled asap and can be extended to 18 months upon positive evaluation. Those interested please contact katerinaaifantis@gmail.com
