Model a advancing tunnel with ABAQUS

R. Hasanpour's picture

I want to model a advancing tunnel with ABAQUS. This
model will be run in two steps. My problem is modeling of excavating
tunnel after unblance the ground. For this modeling, first the tunnel
must be simulated without excavating it and would be subject to
unbalanced forces that is effecting from gravity. In next step, tunnel
would be excavated. For excavating tunnel it is essential that the
relating meshes to tunnel be removed. I could not remeve these meshes.
If anyone have the solutioun for this problem, please keep me informed.

Hi,

I think the *Model Change functionality in ABAQUS could be a proper solution for your problem.

Yes, *MODEL CHANGE, ADD/REMOVE, type=...........

this will work to activate/deactivate the elements form current mesh, without changing mesh.

If you are doing ABAQUS/explicit, you can do element deletion based on some criteria.ou may use subroutine USDFLD for element deletion

How can i change material properties in abaquse?

I excavated tunnel in the abaquse using

*model change

but after that I want to create a cover around the tunnel (shotcrete or concrete lining). for this purpose I have to change material properties of soil around the tunnel.

I would be appreciated if anyone help me.
