Post-Doctoral Positions at the Tsinghua Center for Combustion Energy

frankwanger's picture

A Center for Combustion Energy has been established at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

The need for such a center is motivated by the central role that combustion plays in energy sustainability and climate change,

 by the emergence of China as a major industrialized nation and her commitment to seek solutions to these global problems,

and by the potential that combustion can contribute to the advance of diverse disciplines of frontier science that involve reacting flows.

Development of the Center is supported by a substantial commitment in funding, space, and academic and research positions.

 The research activities of the Center have three major thrusts:

Energy science: Combustion of fossil fuels, synthetic fuels, and bio-fuels;

                           clean engine combustion;

                           and combustion-related issues on the environment and climate.

Foundation science: Studies of the foundational disciplines that constitute combustion,

                                 including combustion theory, combustion chemistry, turbulent combustion,

                                 advanced experimental diagnostics, and cybercombustion, for conceptual breakthroughs.

Interdisciplinary science: Extend the scope of combustion science to include

                                          the diverse scientific disciplines that involve reacting flows,

                                          such as nuclear, plasma, bio-science, nanomaterials, and astrophysics.

Applications for two-year post-doctoral appointments at the Center in any of the above areas of investigation are invited.

Successful candidates will be supervised by internationally renowned authorities in the area of investigation.

For application please send curriculum vitae, copies of representation publications, a narrative of research aspirations,

and names and contact information of three references to C.K. Law,

Robert H. Goddard Professor of Princeton University and director of the Center, at cklaw@princeton.edu,

with copy to cce@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn.
