Post-doctoral position on Crystal Plasticity Modelling of Deformation in Hexagonal Metals

A full-time post as a LATEST2 Research Associate is available for a 2 year fixed term subject to relevant skills and experience to work as part of the LATEST2 (Light Alloys Towards Environmentally Sustainable Transport: 2nd Generation) team in the School of Materials, University of Manchester.

The main role will be to conduct, promote, and assist in supervising research in crystal plasticity modelling of metal deformation. The focus is on modelling the large strain deformation of alloys with an hcp structure, especially titanium and magnesium. In particular, the post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing methodologies for introducing twinning into crystal plasticity models capable of predicting texture and yield surfaces.
