Indo-Danish Bilateral Workshop on “Future Composite Technologies for Wind Turbine Blades” October 8-9, 2012 at IIT DELHI

An Indo-Danish bilateral workshop on “Future Composite Technologies for Wind Turbine Blades” was jointly organized by the Department of Wind Energy, Technical University of Denmark and Applied Mechanics Department, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India. We think this is an exciting Workshop covering several research topics relates to wind turbine blades – design and manufacturing, new computational methods, processing and materials characterization techniques.

The Workshop will be held only two days i.e. 08th – 09th October 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India with a partial financial support provided by Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation, Copenhagen.

The main objective of Workshop is to provide opportunities, to exchange ideas, information, skills and technologies, and to collaborate on scientific and technological endeavours of mutual interest that can translate potential future project proposals for the benefit of mankind at large. The objective is to exchange information regarding the experiences gained so far in the selection of materials for wind turbine blades, manufacturing issues, structural health and monitoring, testing and characterization of small scale structures and large scale blades in Denmark and India and to identify, from these experiences, new areas for collaborative research can be framed.

The themes of the workshop include the following :

o    Renewable energy resources and its importance.

o    Current research status on wind energy.

o    Polymer composites – basic fundamentals.

o    Composites used in wind turbine blades.

o    Future materials for wind turbine blades.

o    Processing techniques for turbine blades.

o    Assessing interfaces in wind turbine blades.

o    Test methods for assessing composite structures.

o    Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).

o    Modeling aspects: failure & damage detection.

o    Material models for analyzing composites with respect to small wind turbine blades.

The resource speakers included both from Denmark and Indian scientists who are all engaged in basic research on "composites and wind turbine blades". The participants were expected from Practicing engineers (both government and private), Faculty members of engineering colleges and universities, Scientists from industries and R&D organizations, Research scholars & post-graduate students from all over the world.

Interested person can register for this workshop by sending the registration form to the email address given below before September 1, 2012.
