Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Turbine Blade Vibration and Stress Analysis, San Diego State University

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Turbine Blade Vibration and Stress Analysis,  Department of Aerospace Engineering, San Diego State University, San Diego, California, USA.

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available for a research project related to the prediction and uncertainty quantification of peak vibration stresses in turbine blades of integrally bladed rotors under multi-frequency forced excitations. The position is for a period of one year, with possibility for renewal for a second year.  The position is available for an immediate start.

Applicants should have earned a doctoral degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related area and possess expertise in structural dynamics of rotating structures.  The candidate will need experience and knowledge of the finite element analyses in structural dynamics.  Expertise and/ or prior research in turbomachinery vibration analysis or working experience with gas turbines and fans will be an advantage.  Experience in parametric modeling for finite element analyses and/or uncertainty quantification will help this project.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of three referees, and copies of their recent publications (conference papers, journal papers, and thesis/dissertation), Professor Satchi Venkataraman (satchi@mail.sdsu.edu ),  Department of Aerospace Engineering, San Diego State Univeristy, San Diego, CA 92812, USA.
