Minisymposium -X-DMS Conference Ferrara 9-11 Sept 2015: Phase field and enhanced finite element formulations for fracture mechanics

Dear colleagues,

as part of the ECCOMAS Thematic Conference X-DMS 2015 on EXTENDED DISCRETIZATION METHODS to be held in Ferrara, Italy, 9-11 September 2015 (http://x-dms2015.sciencesconf.org/), we are jointly co-organizing the mini-symposium entitled “Phase field and enhanced finite element formulations for fracture mechanics”

This sessionaims at fostering the interaction between mathematicians and engineers to better quantify the potentiality of the phase field and enhanced finite element formulations in relation to:

  • Simulation of static and dynamic fracture
  • Quantitative comparison with standard FE formulations: criticalities and advantages
  • Quantification of the various model parameters using benchmark experimental tests
  • Applicability to heterogeneous materials and composites
  • Applicability to multi-scale problems

We would be very pleased if you or you collaborators accept this invitation and submit a contribution (one per person) for its oral presentation. The current deadline for the submission of a one page abstract is due to 29 March 2015. We would strongly appreciate receiving your reply as soon as possible. Instructions concerning the abstract format and template can be found in the website of the Conference (http://x-dms2015.sciencesconf.org/resource/page/id/9) .

Thanks a lot for your cooperation. In case you need further clarifications on this regard, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards
