The work involves working independently and collaboratively on "Investigating the fatigue life of different grades of polyethylene". The Phd student will be conducting heavy experimental work to fully characterize the fatigue property of Polyethylene. The modeling part is the second part of this work; which involves developing criterion and cumulative damage laws to predict the fatigue life of polyethylene under multiaxial loadings.

The position is not located in the United States. The student must be willing to relocate to North France.  This position is funded by the Qatar research foundation and the research work is in collaboration with Texas A&M University main campus and in Qatar. The student will expect to spend part of his time in Doha conducting research.

The main supervisor of the PhD thesis is Pr. Moussa Nait-Abdelaziz the head of a lead team working on characterizing and modeling the behavior of polymers. The thesis will be co-advised by Prs. Fahmi Zairi and Georges Ayoub.

Position requirements: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and or French, the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others in a diverse population. Experience in mechanical testing and characterization of materials is desirable. Experience in Fortran codding and finite element modeling is highly desirable.
