Dr. Benjamin C.K. Tee's research group in the National University of Singapore (NUS) is hiring PhD students and post-doctoral fellows.

We are looking for highly talented and motivated candidates to work on developing new sensing devices. The project will employ cutting-edge lithography tools to study fundamental materials design, simulate and construct nano- to micro-structures for various sensing applications. Together with a multi-disciplinary team of electronics/electrical engineers, you will be part of an exciting research program to develop next-generation sensor devices and systems for human-machine interactions.

Post-doctoral profile:

  • PhD in Physics, Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related disciplines
  • Excellent knowledge of composites/porous/cellular structures at nano to meso-scale
  • Expertise in advanced nano-lithography and/or two-photon lithography a plus
  • Expertise in mechanical simulation tools using ABAQUS, ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, etc. a plus
  • Experience in atomic layer deposition (ALD) highly desirable
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools such as Solidworks/autocad inventor/blend software required
  • Excellent working knowledge with nano/micro imaging tools such as SEM
  • Working knowledge of 3D printing processes
  • Experience with using soft polymeric materials or elastomers
  • Farmiliarity with material mechanical property characterization tools, e.g. nano-indentation
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary team projects

To apply, please send your research statement, CV and names of 3 referees (Name, institution, email) to Dr. Benjamin C.K. Tee (benjamin.tee@nus.edu.sg). Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. For information about the research group, visit http://www.benjamintee.com

About the National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is the oldest institute of higher learning (IHL) in Singapore, as well as the largest university in the country in terms of student enrolment and curriculum offered. The National University of Singapore is a highly research-intensive and comprehensive university with an entrepreneurial dimension.

About the Principal Investigator

Benjamin C.K. Tee obtained his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He has created several new platform technologies for large area electronic sensor skins (e-skins). These works are in several highly cited research papers on electronic sensor skins and wearable technologies in major journals such as Science, Nature Materials and Nature Nanotechnology. He is named as one of the global MIT TR35 Innovators and won the Singapore Young Scientist Award in 2016. He is also selected as the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellow in 2017.
