Tenure-track faculty position in computational mechanics at the University of Vermont (USA)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant Professor level for a Fall 2019 start date. Candidates are expected to hold a baccalaureate degree and a doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.

The Department is seeking outstanding individuals whose research focus lies at the forefront of computational mechanics, applied broadly to solid and/or fluid systems at all scales. The new faculty member is expected to maintain an active program of externally-funded research and graduate student advising and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within the mechanical engineering program, especially in the areas of computational mechanics and engineering.

In recent years, the Department has seen substantial growth in undergraduate and graduate student enrollment and research funding. The University values interdisciplinary research and innovative approaches to engineering education. Significant opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration exist within the Department and with other academic units across campus. High-performance computing facilities are available to researchers within the Vermont Advanced Computing Core.
