Faculty Position in MAE at Syracuse University

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department at Syracuse University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Solid Mechanics. This position is part of an ambitious Invest Syracuse Cluster Hire Initiative in the broad area of bioinspired science and technology. As an integral part of this investment, Syracuse University is actively recruiting multiple candidates for tenured/tenure-track faculty positions for a cohesive research cluster in the focus area of form and function which seeks to understand and optimize movement in organisms, robots, and human-machine interface. The individuals hired into these positions will build on existing strengths in the focused research areas. The successful candidate will have laboratory facilities within the MAE department, with access to the world-class facilities of the multidisciplinary BioInspired Syracuse Institute for Material and Living Systems. This institute spans multiple departments in the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Arts and Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates who possess expertise in expanding the boundaries of experimental and/or computational mechanics to solve a broad range of fundamental problems in mechanics of solids and structures, including, but not limited to mechanics of granular materials, mechanics of advanced materials and structures, mechanics of biological and soft materials, mechanics of robotics.
