Another PhD position in the Netherlands: Discrete Dislocations interacting with Grain Boundaries

Erik Van der Giessen's picture

A four-year PhD position has recently been opened in a collaborative project on Multiscale Metallic Interface Modelling (MuMiM). The student will work on the implementation of the transmission of dislocations across (high-angle) grain boundaries within our Discrete Dislocation Dynamics framework. Parameter values will be provided by atomistic simulations carried out by another partner, and the results will be used to guide the development of a strain-gradient crystal plasticity theory. More details can be found in the attached short description (under workpackage WP1). Please contact E.van.der.Giessen@rug.nl for further info, or check http://micromechanics.phys.rug.nl/index.php?s=Openings.
