Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Modeling Li-Ion Batteries

A postdoctoral research position in the modeling of failure mechanisms for lithium ion batteries is available immediately at the Richard G. Lugar Center for Renewable Energy in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The candidate will work on the study of failure mechanisms of lithium ion batteries which are related to lithium ion diffusion, heat generation and transfer, chemical reaction, and stress development inside the battery. The candidate will focus on developing mathematical models for the failure mechanisms and using commercial softwares to perform numerical simulation. This project involves close collaborations with the experimental scientists. The candidate should hold a doctor degree in a relevant discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in numerical simulations. Prior experience in the use of software OOF, Fluent, or DICTRA is desirable. A curriculum vita, including a list of publications, and the names and email addresses of three references should be sent by e-mail to Prof. Likun Zhu (likzhu@iupui.edu).
