How to see elements or areas inside 3D-FE-model (Abaqus/CAE)

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

I created 3D-FE- model in Abaqus, but I don’t know how to see the element inside 3D model.

I want to check if I mesh the model properly after meshing the model.

Could anyone please suggest me how I can solve this problem?

All I know is that we can see the results in each element inside the model by using view cut in Visualization-module, but I don’t know how to make Abaqus show the element or areas inside the 3D model in Mesh-module (or Part-module).

Thank you very much indeed,

Sutham A.

UMAT for Rousselier damage model

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

Now, I am trying to write Abaqus user defined subroutine(UMAT) for Rousselier damage model, but I don’t know how to define the consistent tangent modulus (the Jacobain) for this model.

Could anyone please give me some information or suggest to me how to determine the equation of this term (Jacobian) ?

Thank you very much indeed

How difference between Static analysis and Dynamic analysis in ABAQUS

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

Could anyone please explains to me how difference between Static (General) analysis and Dynamic (Explicit) analysis in ABAQUS?

In my case, I have already created subroutine VUMAT for Dynamic Explicit analysis. So, is it possible to use the same code (same algorithm) for creating UMAT in Static General analysis?

Thank you very much indeed

Rotating Cylinder by Abaqus

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear everyone,

I try to run one case study that I got from Abaqus Verification Manual (4.1.37 Vumat : Rotating Cylinder).

But it doesn’t work, it always show an error ‘Node set assembly__m22 has not been defined’.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this error?

I have already attached the inp-file and subroutine-file with this post.

(The present Abaqus version that my university use are 6.10 and 6.11)

Thank you very much indeed.

Vumat for Rousselier model (damage model)

Submitted by Sutham_eng on

Dear Everyone,

Now, I am writing Abaqus’s subroutine (Vumat) for modelling fracture and damage in Ferritic Steels.

The failure theory I have to use in my PhD research is the Rousselier’s Theory.

I try to write Vumat by following the procedure of Rousselier model integration in PhD thesis namely ‘3D CAFE modelling of transitional ductile - brittle fracture in steels’ that can see from http://seis.bris.ac.uk/~mexas/thesis.pdf (Appendix.B).
