Vumat for Rousselier model (damage model)

Dear Everyone,

Now, I am writing Abaqus’s subroutine (Vumat) for modelling fracture and damage in Ferritic Steels.

The failure theory I have to use in my PhD research is the Rousselier’s Theory.

I try to write Vumat by following the procedure of Rousselier model integration in PhD thesis namely ‘3D CAFE modelling of transitional ductile - brittle fracture in steels’ that can see from http://seis.bris.ac.uk/~mexas/thesis.pdf (Appendix.B).

I start by applying my Vumat with 1 element of linear isoplastic materials.

The results I got is not correct when compare with the Gurson’s theory.

I have already checked the code for many times, but I still don’t know what I have done wrong.

If anyone can help me to check the Vumat I work with now, I will be very appreciated.

I can send you all of my information I have (Vumat, Flowchart, CAE-file, ect.).

Thank you very much indeed,

Sutham A.

Hello,

I am also using the Rousselier model to study the fracture of alluminum alloy.

I think  the Rousselier model is  different with the Gurso's model.

Maybe your code is right. So, you can not judge your code by the result with Gurson model's result.

The Rousselier's model is special,  it has an analytic
solution
when sigma_m = 0. Firstly,

    df/dp = D*f*(1-f), when p = 0,  f = f0

where p is the  equivalent plastic strain, D is a constant. D = 2.

      the solution is :

              f = f0/((1-f0)exp(-2*p)+f0)

You can suppose a stress state  sigma_ij =

[s 0 0]

|0 -s 0|

[0 0  0],

or, pure shear state.

Then, you can check your code by using this solution rather than Gurson's model.

Good luck!
