Postdoc Position in Mechanics of Polymer and Composite Materials Characterization

Applications are invited for an immediate postdoctoral associate opening in materials characterization at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Temple University, Phiadelphia, PA. The project will focus on the mechanical property characterization of micro/nano-fibers and their woven structures for design of high energy absorption materials. Their mechanical responses under static loading and high speed dynamic impact loading will be evaluated through a combined macroscopic and nanomechanical testing approach such as nanoindentation, single fiber pull-out/push-out test, and micro-tensile test. Candidates with strong hands-on experiences in mechanical testing at the micro- and nano-scale of fiber reinforced composites (e.g. nanoindentation) are desired. Specific knowledge of solid mechanics, polymer science and engineering, materials processing and treatment is preferred. Applications must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field.

The candidate will work with a group of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students from mechanical engineering, chemistry, and physics in the Temple Materials Institute, as well as collaborators across the country.
