Constitutive Model for Woven Fabric

Hi All,

I want experts suggestion regarding the constitutive model for woven fabrics.

The deformation in woven fabric is determined based upon the weave pattern, nature of the weave etc and the material of the fibers, so if one has to model a woven fabric structure in a continuum approach the constitutive model has to incorporate both the geometric and material property. I have read some journals regarding it, some say that poisson's ratio of a woven fabric is close to zero so that stress and strain can be treated in a decoupled manner, while other journals say that this assumption doesn't hold true for large deformation problems (I agree with this completely).

If stress and strain are treated in a decoupled fashion then its possible to construct a simple FE model.

If not how should be the governing equation.

Can anybody shed some of their understanding and knowledge into this.

Thanks & Regards

Ashwin
