[DEM] PhD Student Internship Opportunity at Idaho National Lab
Work Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States.
Duration: about three months (with financial support of temporatory living in Idaho Falls); starting from May 2018.
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking PhD student internship applicants for DEM particle mechanics simualtions for engineering-type applications & research.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Numerical methods: research experience in the discrete element method (DEM) and/or other coarse-grained particle mechanics modeling methods.
* Familiarity with LAMMPS and especially LIGGGHTS as a user is a significant plus.
* Computer programming: proficiency in C/C++, familiarity of Linux/UNIX environment, and basic user experience of HPC clusters.
* Teamwork and communication: ability and willingness to work closely and communicate effectively with in a group of modeling and experimental scientists.
* Technical writing and presentation: a track record in technical abstracts, conference proceedings/presentations, and/or journal articles, if any.
