Post-Doc position for “Computational Soft Contact Mechanics”

The Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies in Lecce is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented candidate with background in computational contact mechanics, fluid dynamics, modelling and simulation of interface mechanics, or related areas.

The objective of the project is to develop numerical models for the simulation of the interface processes occurring during the wetting/dewetting of thin fluid films among and across soft interacting interfaces, in order to predict the local interface flow and dissipation dynamics.

Applicants are expected to have hands-on experience in analytical and numerical modelling of wet contact and interface mechanics, in bulk and surface material modelling, as well as in computational methods.

Additional experience in soft matter tribology will be a plus but not mandatory.

Eligibility criteria:

  • PhD in engineering, condensed matter physics, material science or related areas.
  • Experience in computational methods and numerical modelling for contact mechanics, thin film fluid dynamics theory and modelling, modelling of multiphase flow is desirable.
  • Proven track record of publications in the relevant technical areas and projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language and ability to manage/write papers.

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

To apply (deadline is February 15th, 2019) please send a cover letter outlining experience and qualifications for the post, CV and names of 2 referees to applications@iit.it quoting “Post Doc position for Computational Soft Contact Mechanics CB 76269” in the subject line.
