Ph.D. position in Topology optimization of frame structures under dynamic loads

Artificial Intelligence Center at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague invites applications for Ph.D. candidates interested in cross-disciplinary research between structural dynamics and mathematical optimization.

The candidate's research activities will focus on developing theoretically-supported algorithms for topology optimization of frame structures, using the techniques of polynomial matrix inequalities as pioneered by Tyburec and co-workers. Therefore, the position is particularly suitable for researchers with a strong mathematical aptitude and interest in structural mechanics.

During their studies, the candidate will be embedded in a team of applied mathematicians and mechanicians involving Jakub Mareček, Vyacheslav Kungurtsev, Didier Henrion, Michal Kočvara, Jiří Outrata, Marek Tyburec, and myself.
