How to Compute MATERIAL JACOBIAN?

Hi All,

Thanks for your help so far. I have one last question to the forum. Please do answer whatever you know. How can I compute Material Jacobian for my UMAT subroutine?

best regards

Come on guys, I know for some of you it might be stupid question, but just give me a reference or a pointer.

Dinesh,

I don't think the lack of response to your question is due to it being a "stupid question".  The question as you have posed it - it is very general and does not ask about a specific derivation with respect to a specific constitutive model - comes across (at least to me) as if you haven't done any reading on the subject (Abaqus manual, nonlinear FE texts, or journal papers) at all. To start with, you could look at the Abaqus Theory Manual.  Also, any nonlinear FE text should also cover this material. A couple that come to mind off the top of the head are

"Computational Inelasticity" Simo and Hughes

"Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures" Belytschko, Liu, and Moran

Best of luck,

Jason
