Maximum strain from 6000 frames of a step in ABAQUS/Standard

Dear All,

I have the following problem: I'm doing a time history analysis of box-shaped reinforced concrete shear wall. It has four faces, each face consisting of about 400 shell elements. I'm interested in the maximum shear strain that occurs during the whole time history analysis. I'm running this analysis on ABAQUS/Standard and input the time history of accelerations from a file which has a total time of 10.6s @ 0.0018s interval. Apparently, my analysis creates around 6000 frames in one step, corresponding to time history analysis. I would like to plot the maximum shear strain in all the elements on each face.

I tried to use the Tools->Creat Field Output -> from Frames, but this method freezes my computer and CAE shuts down. I'm new to python scripting and running short on time to do this at leisure. I would really appreciate any kind of help/suggestions/Comments.

 Thanks,

Sami

Dear Sami,

Try to use on ABAQUS Viewer: Create XY data->ODB field output->continue.

Then you select in the "variables" tab: Position=Integration Point (or Unique Nodal), then you click the checkbox which corresponds to the shear strain (E or LE, etc...)

You go to the "elements/nodes" tab, method=Pick from viewport, edit selection, and you select all the nodes or integration points on your model. Then you click on "plot" and in the viewport you will see the graph of the shear strain of all the elements or nodes of your model versus time. If you want to save the data of the graph you click "save" and subsequently you can take them from ABAQUS and paste them to Excel.

I hope I helped you,

Dear all

I modeled a 4 stories shear wall in abaqus and run it under El-centro
acceleration time history. Unfortunately, it seems I'm getting the
wrong results.
i attain equal displacement in any level of wall !!!!! For example,
max displacement of wall in level 1m is 200mm and max displacement in
level 10m also is 200 mm. is it correct?
Indeed, there isn't any relative displacement in height of wall and
drift is equal zero!
Please help me.
Thanks for your attention.
