Postdoc in Tissue Mechanics, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh

Tissue Mechanics Group at the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, UK), has a postdoctoral research associate position available for 26 months (Grade 7, Salary: £34,308 - £39,745, plus standard academic package of remuneration). The main research area will be computational tissue mechanics (with the option to lead experimental tissue characterisation, depending on experience and interests), with the application area in mechanics-based tumour detection for robot-assisted surgery.

2 Postdoc Positions: Nanoscale Mechanics of Surfaces and Interfaces

There are two openings for postdoctoral researchers in the research group of Prof. Tevis Jacobs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Pittsburgh.

The purpose of the research effort is to understand the performance of advanced materials used in the semiconductor industry. Within this larger research effort, there are two sub-projects, each of which will be led by a different postdoctoral researcher. In both cases, the research will involve the following activities:

Postdoctoral Position in Discrete Element Modelling at Hongik University in Sejong, Korea

One postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Mechanical and Design Engineering at Hongik University in Sejong, Republic of Korea.

The postdoc candidate should have a strong background in computational mechanics of granular materials (especially, in particle-level high-speed contact/impact of solids), numerical methods (such as DEM and FEM), and computational code development with C/C++, Fortran and/or Python.

Postdoc Position -- Univ. of Pittsburgh

The Shankar Research Group (www.shankarlab.pitt.edu) at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates an opening for a postdoctoral associate starting September 2022. The position’s primary area of research will focus on 3D printing with liquid crystal elastomers and cholesteric liquid crystal polymers. A background in synthesis of liquid crystalline polymers, photoalignment techniques and polymer characterization is required.
