Hi All,
I have a problem of solving an axially moving beam nested within a stationary, simple supported envelope beam using ProMechanica. If anyone knows how to deal such problem in ProMechanica or any other FEM software it will be a really great help. I am trying to describe the problem in details.
I want to solve an axially moving beam nested within a stationary,
simple supported envelope beam. This type
of problem arises in spacecraft antennas, band-saw blades, telescopic
robotic manipulators, modeling of flexible links traveling through
prismatic joints etc. Here, the instantaneous length (L(t)) of the
protruded part of the beam is a function of time. And the axial motion
of the beam is caused by a uniform acceleration field, such as gravity,
there will be no axial force in the beam. A second case could be when
the axial motion occurs at constant velocity, i.e. L_{double dots}=0. Now I want see how the moving beam deflects with such velocity. There will be some friction at the bearing. I shall be
grateful to you if you could kindly share your ideas to solve the
problem. Or if you have any materials that deal with similar issue, I
will be highly obliged.
Thank you.
Best regards
