Hi,
I'm trying to run a frequency analysis of a composite beam with non-linear properties in Abaqus. Is it possible to make use of the non-linear properties in the frequency analysis. If so how can I do it?
Composite beam in this case refers to a combination of steel and concrete.
Any detailed contributions will be appreciated.
Thanks
RE: non linear frequency analysis
Hi phrankie81,
As far as I know, the frequency analysis cannot involve any kind of nonlinearity, since it is a linear perturbation analysis. At least, all the common commercial FE codes don't have the ability to introduce nonlinearity in a frequency analysis. Also, in my opinion it is not required at all.
But by looking at your description, I think you may be interested in 'anisotropic properties' which is a common behaviour of composites. Not the 'nonlinear material properties'. If that is the case, most of the commercial FE softwares can solve it.
