POST-DOCTORAL POSITION : DESIGN OF PIEZOELECTRIC TRANSDUCERS FOR ULTRASONIC MONITORING APPLICATIONS
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION : DESIGN OF PIEZOELECTRIC TRANSDUCERS FOR ULTRASONIC MONITORING APPLICATIONS - Sorry this position is closed
Brussels School of Engineering/Ecole polytechnique de Bruxelles
Service: Constructions, Architecture et Urbanisme (BATIr)
The majority of rotating machines used
in the industry generate vibrations which are traditionally measured
using accelerometers at relatively low frequencies corresponding to the
first harmonics of the rotational speed (below 10 kHz) in order to
monitor their state of health. The company SDT international promotes a
different approach based on ultrasonic piezoelectric sensors to measure
higher frequencies (typically around 40 kHz) which are thought to be
more sensitive to defects to be detected in the machines. The company
SDT international wishes to improve its piezoelectric ultrasonic sensing
devices in terms of both size and cost and to evaluate new designs
possibilities for their new generation of transducers. The dynamics
research group at BATir-ULB is in charge of developing the research
associated to this project.
