As it is known, when using UMAT abaqus, stiffness proportional damping can not be used. However, for the dynamic calculation it is neccessary to put some stiffness damping. So for approximate calculations, it is easy to use numerical damping instead.
*Dynamic, application=XXX,
and using the key words *Dynamic, XXX, users can adjust the value for numerical damping. Althogh, there is no physical meaning for numerical damping, it can be a temperory solution for UMAT dynamic calculation.
enquiry about stiffness proportional damping in VUMAT/UMAT
Hi,
I am interested in your work and am wondering whether you have some experience in adding stiffness proportional damping in VUMAT or UMAT. Currently, I want to consider a damping in VUMAT. Maybe numerical damping will be available as well. Do you have some hints on this? Thanks a million.
