Convergence issue in transient coupled temperature-displacement analysis in Abaqus

Hello all,

I am working on a coupled temperature-displacement analysis for quenching of steel parts using Abaqus. However, the analysis is unconverging at the first increment itself and is thus aborting. This is probably due to a high value of heat transfer coefficient just at the beginning of the step.So i tried by using small value of heat transfer coefficient initially and then ramping up to the exact value linearly to lower temperature. This technique worked fine and the analysis is now converging. My doubt is, can i do something from the abaqus controls side which can enable me to work with high thermal gradients that is occuring at the initial increment, without ramping up the heat transfer coefficient? (is there something analogous to Ansys's Relaxation factor and convergence tolerence option, in Abaqus?)

 Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Danish Khan
