Inertia relief in static analysis
Wed, 2009-05-13 02:29 - yogeshtv
Hello
can anybody explain about "Inertia relief" and its practical significance?
Also i read from nastran mannual that it calculate rigid body acceleration , how do we get rigid body acceleration bcoz in inertia relief static analysis we fixed the all possible rigid body motion .
Please share the information on this
Thanks and Regards
Ista.

for Unconstrained Structures
Hello Ista,
Inertia relief analysis method used for analyzing the unconstrained structures. example. aircraft, etc.,
Even, it can be used for the situation, if you have quasi-static loads extracted from an assembly to a component level. That component can be analysed for stresses using this method.
It balances the force by multiplying acceleration with the mass of the structure. there are two categories in nastran 1. inrel,-1 option 2. inrel,-2 option. for inrel,-1 option, we need to specify the point/grid id & dof need to the supported (should be <=6 dof)for inrel,-2 option, it does automatically and removes all suport entries.
The inertia relief method is for structures in static equilibrium!
i hope this helps!

Can the Inertia relief
Can the Inertia relief analysis method be used in nonlinear static analysis? If yes, how is it implemented in MSC/Nastran?
Thanks in advance,
