VCCT- Example/Tutoriel for delamination of composite structures required
Dear all,
I'm not an expert in using Abaqus. I need an example for modelling delamination with VCCT technique. My model always excited with errors and I dont understand the meaning of them. I posted a blog before, its still that problem. In Abaqus UsersManuel I do not find the right answers. Is it even possible to simulate delamination of a 3d-shell girder with VCCT?
Because VCCT is based on XFEM and I have read somewhere in the Manuel that XFEM is not for 3d-Shell elements.
Thank you
Kind regards

Hehe, currently, i write a paper on the postbuckling and delamination of composite laminates using VCCT and ABAQUS. 3D crack propagation using ABAQUS is not easy compared with 2D problem. VCCT is a good approach than cohesive for 3D problem since
the failure criterion is simple. Good Luck!
I will answer the question
I will answer the question by myself.
It is possible possible to simulate delamination on 3d shells in Abaqus/CAE. But to model that problem you have to include some keywords [Model-Edit Keywords].
This is the way how to model VCCT with a "known" start point of crack propagation.
1. Define your Model including Parts, Steps, Assembly, Steps etc.
2. Include keywords for initial contact between to surfaces (*Initial conditions, *Contact Pair, *Surface Interaction)
3. Include keywords for debond possibility and fracture criterion (*debond, *fracture criterion) in your step modul.
