I am carrying out a metal forming simulation in ABAQUS using ALE with Explicit solver. I have used plastic properties of material. Though ALE are designed for mesh smoothening advection sweeps (that is ALE is supposed to take care of mesh smoothening); I am facing a problem. ABAQUS gives me an error "excessive element distortion".
Further, I refined the mesh at the places where I am observing severe distortion of elements. I also changed the advection frequency so that mesh would get smoothened frequntly and this problem would be solved. but after doing this also I am facing same problem "excessive element distortion".
Can somebody tell me what might be the reason behind this ??
Is there any other approach to solve this problem?? Should I use Eulerian mesh for solving this problem??
