The University of Central Florida (UCF) announces multiple tenured / tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks to be filled by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). This hiring program is part of a comprehensive growth plan to significantly increase the faculty size. Candidates with backgrounds in any area of mechanical or aerospace engineering or related disciplines will be considered. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates will be considered for Provost Professor designation.

PhD Position at McGill University in Multifunctional Materials

One PhD position is available for Fall 2016 in the Bioresource Engineering Department of McGill University. The research is on Multifunctional Materials. Theoretical, computational, and experimental studies will be conducted for a multiscale multiphysics analysis. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Hamid Akbarzadeh at McGill University.

 

Required qualifications for the position are:

1. Strong background on Computational mechanics, Nonlinear and instability analysis, Multiscale analysis, Cellular Solids, and Smart materials.

Professor JN Reddy is the 2016 recepient of Prager Medal and Professor Gang Chen will receive the 2016 Eringen Medal

Professor J.N. Reddy, of Texas A&M Univeristy, has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Society of Engineering Science Prager Medal. The prize is awarded for outstanding research contributions in either theoretical or experimental Solid Mechanics or both.

Teng Li wins the 2016 SES Young Investigator Medal

It is my pleasure to announce that Teng Li, of the University of Maryland at College Park, has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Society of Engineering Science Young Investigator Medal.

The prize is awarded to a young researcher (within 10 years after PhD at the time of nomination submission) in his or her ascendancy whose work has already had an impact in his/her field within Engineering Science.
