EXPAND A COMPLEX ANALYTICAL FUNCTION IN x,y and i (imaginary unit) TERMS (THAT IS REAL AND IMAGINARY PART)

Submitted by Ilias I. Tourl… on

I'd like to know the existence or not of a code in MATLAB or in Fortran form which can manipulate an expression of complex analytical functions, and gives me back the expression in the form of:  <expression>=u(x,y)+i*v(x,y),or in polar terms as well, where expression is something like:F(z)*z/R(z) and F,R analytical complex functions.

Thanks in any case

Balance Laws in Continua with Microstructure

Submitted by arash_yavari on

This paper revisits continua with microstructure from a geometric point of view. We model a structured continuum as a triplet of Riemannian manifolds: a material manifold, the ambient space manifold of material particles and a director field manifold. Green-Naghdi-Rivlin theorem and its extensions for structured continua are critically reviewed.

User defined MPC

Submitted by gautambalaram on

I am using an MPC subroutine (ABAQUS Standard) that will allow me to release nodes along the line of symmetry which also happens to be my defined crack-path when the strain at that point crosses a critical value. This is to simulate crack propagation using the Critical Plastic Strain Fracture Mechanics Model (CPFSM) / Rice-Tracey model.

I am having trouble in defining the MPC in my *.inp file as I am unaware of as to how to define the nodes upon which I intend to impose the MPC. The manual instructs one to type the individual nodes following the command line:

ABAQUS/CAE- Fluid Elements

Submitted by krithvi on

Hi,

I am trying to model the air inside a 195/65 R16 radial car tire using ABAQUS(6.6.1). I am interested in knowing the air cavity volume and pressure change due to vertical loading. I think fluid elements are the way to go.

I would appreciate pointers with regard to creating fluid elements (examples, input files etc..), as ABAQUS/CAE does not support this feature.

Thanks much,

Vijay

P.s My input file is 15 MB. Hence could not attach it with this post.

How to ask a question on iMechanica

Submitted by Biswajit Banerjee on

I've mostly had quite helpful responses from iMechanica participants whenever I've asked questions on this forum.  However, I've noticed that questions from several posters have gone unanswered.  I feel that there are two main reasons for that lack of response:

1) The questioner has not provided an adequate details by which they can be identified.  I generally don't like responding to a question posed by someone called xyz1983.

A postdoc position in multiscale stochastic computation

Submitted by X. Frank Xu on

A postdoc position in multiscale stochastic computation will be available in Fall 2008. Experience on finite elements, multiscale methods, high performance/parallel computing, or computational fracture/damage modeling is desired. Please contact:

can any one suggest me a tensile testing machine for small specimens/films witha temperature ramp facility

Submitted by Bhabani K. Satapathy on

I intend to do some tensile testing on some composite materials with very small thickness (about 0.5-1mm) and size 3 cm x 1 cm in a temperature ramp mode. I would like to know the name of such a testing machine or contact if any one has the same?
