developing a Matlab software to get the natural frequency , and dynamic parameters (modal shape for each mode)

Submitted by sherifgebaly on

i am trying to develop a matlab program to calculate the natural frequency anf the model shapes for beams

using the finite element method , as i will need to change the stiffness in the beam sections to model cracks.

i am sure there an easy ready method to perform this , i am happy if some one provided me with the method or the basic code

The concept of multifractal elasticity

Submitted by Balankin on

A new type of elasticity of random (multifractal) structures is suggested. A closed system of constitutive equations is obtained on the basis of two proposed phenomenological laws of reversible deformations of multifractal structures. The results may be used for predictions of the mechanical behavior of materials with multifractal microstructure, as well as for the estimation of the metric, information, and correlation dimensions using experimental data on the elastic behavior of materials with random microstructure.

Submitted by Ji Wang on

Professor Y. C. Fung, Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering at UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering, is the recipient of the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize of 2007.

The Russ Prize is presented biannually to an outstanding candidate in the field of bioengineering who has made significant contributions to improving the human condition through research, development, teaching, or management. The recipient receives a $500,000 cash award and an engraved gold medallion.

Subspace Mode Extraction Method@ANSYS

Submitted by L2020 on

Hi
I've a question about the Subspace method as one of the mode extraction methods of ANSYS.I want to extract the first 100 modes of a system with more than 200 DOFs,
I assigned "No. mode to extract" to 100.
but when I ran the analysis, ANSYS just calculated the first 75 modes of the system...
I checked out the Subspace options again and I saw "No. mode to extract" was assigned to 75!!!!, I don't know why this option has changed??!

any help is appreciated
