Modal Analysis Ansys Workbench

Submitted by rkamidi on

Hi,

I'm trying to do a modal analysis (free vibration) of an assembly in Ansys Workbench 11. The model has 6 degrees of freedom. The problem is that the first six modes (rigid body modes) are not equal to zero (some around 30 hz). I think that this is caused by the contat regions which are automatically detected by Ansys. I also changed the settings of the contact regions and it improved a little bit (Rigid body modes from 30 Hz to 10 Hz) but it's still not around zero. Does anybody know how to define (setting) the contact regions in order to get the rigid body modes around 10 Hz?

 With kind regards,

 Ramidin

Sorry friend i am unable to answer ur question but i have a question for u...

i am too doing modal analysis in Ansys 9.0 version. I have imported Pro E model in ANSYS. The problem is to conduct modal analysis in ANSYS of a box mounted on a table at three corner points. The model is 3D. Now after meshing the model i am facing difficulty in applying boundry condutions at four corner points. if i take bottom view the msg i recieved is that there r two nodes at this location click next or previous to select desired node. Now wht should i do is their any easier way to apply boundary conditions in ANSYS
