New SIMULIA Tech Brief: Multi-pass Pipe Welding Analysis using the Abaqus Welding Interface
I can't pipe down about this new Tech Brief!
Pipes are an integral part of everyday happenings in many businesses across an array of industries. It is important to accurately determine the integrity of piping system in order to reduce the possibility of failures. The Abaqus Welding Interface or AWI is an extension of Abaqus/CAE that is well-suited to help predict welding residual stresses during the design process of pipe joints. This translates into cost advantage by saving on prototyping and experiments, while also reducing costly in-service failures. Check out the full tech brief to learn how AWI is used to model multi-pass welding of an SUS304 stainless steel pipe joint. In it we will show the AWI analysis methodology provides reasonably accurate predictions of resulting temperature history and residual stresses, with significant savings in construction of complex 3-D weld models.
