Who should attend
This workshop is aimed at all engineers based in the automotive industry, where 3D image data (from CT, microCT …) can be used for virtual exploration, reverse engineering of legacy parts, components wear analysis, material characterisation from samples such as composites, plastics, rubbers and ceramics, or human body modelling. We will demonstrate the ease of generating high fidelity models for 3D printing, CAD and simulation.
Agenda
9:30 - 9:40 Registration & Refreshments
9:40 - 10:20 Introduction to Image-based Model Generation with Simpleware
- Discover what the Simpleware software suite can do for you!
- Get an overview of the tools to visualise and process your image data from a wide range of imaging modalities (CT, microCT, FIB-SEM...)
- Learn how to turn your images into high quality multi-part surface or volume meshes and export them in a range of formats for 3D printing, or export to CAD or simulation packages
- Analyse your data using the built in measurements and statistics such as volume, surface area, cross section or calculate homogenised properties such as the effective Young’s Modulus
10:20 - 10:40 Get an Overview of the Features within our New Release 2016.09
New Features for ScanIP
- Additional segmentation and Boolean Operation tools
- Quick Statistics and automated reporting
- Per-part mesh settings
- New Features for +FE
- Mesh surfaces and masks together in the same model
- Automatic CFD clipping planes
- Integration of the full +CAD module and additional new surface tools including: STL fixing, group/un-group objects and feature detection/preservation
- New 1D and 2D models added to the Physics modules for extracting effective parameters
10:40 - 11:00
See version 2016.09 in action! Demo of the Simpleware Software Suite
- Experience first-hand how quick and easy it is to import image data, segment the parts or phases required and generate a surface or volume mesh for different applications
- See an overview of the Simpleware key features including segmentation tools and quick measurements or user defined statistics
11:00 - 12:30 Hands-on Tutorial*
Try the full Simpleware software suite!
- Setup and generate a surface or volume mesh ready for export, by following one of the built in software tutorials (including porous foams, particulate composites, or larger industrial components)
- Bring on your own data to get personalised help with your own workflow
- Start you trial and work with our Simpleware Support team to develop your workflow
* To participate in the hands-on session you will need to bring a Windows laptop with the Simpleware software installed. To apply for a license, please enter your laptop host ID (MAC address) below. The installer and license will be sent to participants one week before the workshop.
